Window and Door Surrounds Benefits
Synthetic Stone window and door surrounds offer many features and benefits:
- Surrounds are installed after brickwork is completed, eliminating any damage by the bricklayers to the surround. A 1" space is left around window and a 1" space above the brick sill. This will leave a 3/16" caulk joint.
- If a piece is damaged or misplaced, surrounds can be reordered and, in most cases can be sent out the next day, unlike limestone, which can cause job delays for up to 4-6 weeks.
- Product is sent to the job in 18' lengths, and radius pieces are sent in 5' sections, allowing installers to custom fit them on the jobsite.
- No screws are required, leaving a very clean appearance. Installers use adhesive to bond material to brick, once adhesive sets the bond is permanent.
- Clear caulking is used on the top of the window surrounds only; no other caulking is required from surround to brick. However, builder is required to caulk between the window and surround and all caulking should be inspected on an annual basis, by the homeowner.
- Patent Pending surrounds have a hollow design that allows only the outside lip seal to rest on the brick, so if there are any major bows in the brick wall; (over 1/4") the surround can be easily sanded to fit the brick.
- Patent Pending surrounds have a built in water gutter, allowing any water that may get behind the surround to be channeled away from the window to the vertical legs and out the bottom of the seal. For this reason, never caulk the bottom of the seals.
- A maintenance free product, offered in 5 different colors. May also be painted to match exterior color schemes.
- The look and feel of real stone at a fraction of the cost of limestone. The actual cost is that of a Dryvitt surround.
- Can also be installed on existing homes to give an older house, a fresh new look.
- Subcontractors are available by request to do complete installation of all product lines.
- To clean, simply add soft scrub with bleach in a pale of water. Scrub material with a stiff brush, and then spray off with water. Never use a power washer on product. Power washing will cause streaking.
- Never stand on window sills for any reason, serious injury or death could occur.
- Can be installed with or without mortar joints.
